Q: How old were you the first time you got on a motorcycle?

A: When I was three I had an electric three-wheeler and then when I turned four I got a four-wheeler. My first time on a two-wheeled bike was when I was six.

Q: Did you ever feel pressured having a championship winning older brother?

A:
All the time, but just from myself. Matt set the bar so high that I figured there would be no way to achieve that level. Luckily my team has been amazing since the start and so far we have come back with three championships in a row.

Q: Have you ever had the chance to line up against Matt, officially or unofficially?

A:
Both actually. We used to race around on dirt bikes and 4-wheelers when we lived in Colorado. We did match up three times during 2002 when I started racing, he holds a 2-1 advantage over me, but I won the first time we lined up, which was 2nd round of eliminations in Reading, PA.

Q: Would you ever want to try a Top Fuel bike?

A: Yes!!!! Watching Doug Vancil and Larry McBride ride their machines really makes me want to give it a try. There is just something about going 230-245mph

Q: What was it like to be the first pro stock rider to break the 7-second ET barrier?

A: It was definitely a milestone in my career. It is something that nobody can take away. I probably enjoy holding that record more than my championships because no one else will be able to do it. Championships come and go, being the first in the 6s will never leave me.

Q: How are you involved in the development of the bike?

A: I am very involved. I work in the shop when we are not on the road, helping the guys work on engines, build new bikes, make spare parts, we all work together to make sure our team is a top notch unit.

Q: What do you do to physically train for drag racing?

A: I don't do a whole lot of physical training, I can't afford the weight of muscle since I am one of the bigger riders on the tour. I really just try to stay consistent with my weight.

Q: How do the motorcycle racers get along with the car racers in NHRA?

A: Very well. I know quite a few of the racers in the other ranks, NHRA is kind of like a big family.

Q: Who do you go to for advice?

A: My dad, he seems to have all the answers.

Q: With three championships, what more would you like to accomplish as a racer?

A: A fourth Championship so Matt and I won't be tied at three. That could prompt him to come out of retirement though.

Q: Who did you look up to when you were growing up?

A: My dad, he is just so calm and collected in everything he does.

Q: What was your best subject in school?

A: Biology/Chemistry and Algebra/Calculus

Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?

A: Becoming the first person to break into the 6-second zone. That is something that will never happen again.

Q: if you could have any other job in the world, what would it be?

A: It is hard to decide because racing is so much fun. I was really close to pursuing medicine, then the racing bug took a hold of me.

Q: Where do you enjoy being the most?

A: Anywhere with my wife, nothing matters when we are together. We have found so many ways to be happy.

Q: What do you see yourself doing ten years from now?

A: That is a long way away. I would imagine I will be an integral part of Vance & Hines Motorsports. That is the next step in following the footsteps of my family.

Q: What makes you laugh?

A: My two dogs when they try to pick on each other. They act so crazy sometimes, I can't help but love them.

Q: What is in your CD player now?

A: Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin

Q: What was the last movie you saw?

A: Shooter --- Mark Wahlberg and Danny Glover

Q: What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?

A: Chocolate Fudge Brownie
