VANCE & HINES CELEBRATION OF RACING
11/10/2005 SANTA FE SPRINGS – True to its heritage, Vance & Hines continues to make racing a cornerstone of its operations. And to celebrate the 2005 racing season, Vance & Hines invited all of its racers and teams out to its headquarters in Santa Fe Springs, California to honor those who carry on the legacy.
With all of the race team transporters present with race bikes on display and over four hundred in attendance including all Vance & Hines employees, race teams and the media, the party could easily have been mistaken for a major race event itself.
This year has seen another phenomenal season for the Sreamin’ Eagle / Vance & Hines V-Rod Team taking first and second in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship with riders Andrew Hines and GT Tonglet. Back to back champion Andrew also reset the Pro Stock ET record this year with a 6.968, the first rider to break the seven-second barrier. And GT also had a breakthrough season with two national event victories.
Also attending was three time Top Fuel Harley Champion Doug Vancil with his wife and crew chief Julie Vancil racing for the Vance & Hines / Drag Specialties team. Doug will be fighting for the championship in the AHDRA finals in Las Vegas this weekend.
Just as it had done in the beginning, Vance & Hines not only fields its own race teams, it also supplies a number of its competitors with race motors and exhaust pipes; including 2003 champion Geno Scali and 2002 first runner up Craig Treble who also joined the celebration.
One of the great highlights of the event was the presentation of a V-Rod Pro Stock motorcycle built to race specification from Byron Hines to Terry Vance. The heartfelt exchange clearly evidenced a genuine friendship that has sustained and prospered for over thirty years.
Commenting on the day, Vance & Hines President, Terry Vance said, “Our passion for competition has been the driving force to build the best motorcycle products in the market. Today we are paying tribute to all those who keep this spirit alive for us at the racetrack weekend after weekend.”
